Frack-Free Tyne and Wear has formed to resist the development of extreme energy in the north-east, specifically Underground Coal Gasification (UGC), Coal Bed Methane (CBM) and Hydraulic Fracturing (HF or fracking), and to promote safe alternatives which create long-term sustainable jobs and protect our environment and resources.
Frack-Free Tyne and Wear is a group of concerned residents who have come together to campaign against extreme energy exploitation in the North-East. We are part of a regional, national and international network of similar groups.
There are a wealth of alternative options available to us. We can cut down our fuel use, make our essential machines more efficient, and invest money and knowledge into sustainable renewable energy. Renewable energy brings long-term jobs, protects resources, and is a responsible way of managing the environment. The north-east is already making great progress in this direction, and we value and encourage that work, at the same time as we campaign against dangerous extreme energy.
